Sounds like you had a fantastic break, Carly, I hope it's not too 'flattening to the spirit' to have to return to work.

The only Lloyd Wright building in Europe is in Ireland... It wasn't built until long after he'd died - only a few years ago in fact - but it did use one of his final designs.

Hi, I'm sorry to disappoint you but that photograph of the Fox and Hound is not where Sir John A. Macdonald was born but next to where his father worked, although his father, Hugh Macdonald, also worked for a short time at this site, long before it was a pub. He was born on the south side of the River Clyde in Laurieston, next to Carleton Place in a tenement that has long been demolished to make way for the Sheriff's Court. This has been pointed out by a number of authors who have carried out extensive research on Sir John, such as Patricia Phenix, Richard Gwyn, Ged Martin but the only one who has a photograph of the buildings is me - Graham Evan MacDonell. It was a good movie for action loving fans. I agree with it as far as that. Awsome action good acting and a little bit of history behind it. But what i didn't like was the credability of some of the scenes as far as burning a keep castle down by diggin a tunnel underneath it and setting fire to pigs which cause the entire building to collapse. I tend to think it was a it of nonsense there

Peter! Glad to have you back in the Comments and so pleased to hear you're on the mend again.

Now you've put the idea in my head I shall make it my mission to befriend a fireman and get a lift somewhere one day!

The new job is interesting and there is lots to do - I'm not sure titles always necessarily reflect the work involved but you're right it sounds great : )

And we are really happy with the new place - I think we landed on our feet way more than we first appreciated. I will get round to taking some photos soon and send them your way - in fact we should get you on Skype and give you a virtual tour.

Another great series of reports. I particularly liked your description of the family get together in Scotland. I got close to that area on my recent trip to the Isle of Skye and return to Glasgow via the backblocks. Takes a long time to get anywhere due to the geography of the area.
Impressed by the new job title - what does it mean?! Sounds very impressive.
The new abode sounds terrific. Perhaps you will get a ride in a fire truck one day!
My health continues to improve - I'll be around to cause more trouble for a while yet.
